By Michio Kaku
Distinguished scholar Michio Kaku possibly comes as close as anyone to relating current subatomic physics to concepts comprehensible to the rest of us. A reader heretofore frustrated in understanding the concept of the string theory of subatomic particles is likely to gain at least a smattering of knowledge about the subject after reading this book.
Fortunately, the author goes well beyond the subject of the book’s title, which is the possibility that other “creations” intersect with the universe we know. As foreign as that concept might seem, Professor Kaku presents a number of plausible cases for it. Interestingly, someone is likely to wonder why there intersecting universes aren’t possible, given what leading physicists don’t know about our own--which seems to be plenty.
As if string theory doesn’t offer sufficient complexity, the author introduces us to a version known as “M-Theory” to explain the relationship between mass, time and space within (get ready for this!)eleven dimensions.
